This course was an experience which involved learning a lot of new skills, or things we normally do not do during our regular English class. We focus on engineering-related assignments and this gave me an understanding of what I would be dealing with within the engineering field. The assignments were a challenge for me since most of the writing assignments were completely new for me and throughout my writings. Every assignment was particularly different and required different approachment, these assignments are a letter of introduction, a memo, a lab report analysis, and a technical description.

Formal letter of introduction this was the first assignment we did, this was nothing new to what we had been doing from our English class. writing this assignment allowed me to set some goals, for my class and my future.

The memo was not a hard assignment but since it was my first time writing it, I was not sure of how to address it. This cause a lot of struggles in the writing progress, I did not know how to write it with a formal tone or the structure I needed to follow. I could accomplish this assignment because of my peers and my instructor’s advice during the class. this helped me to conclude and follow the structure that I had to follow since the beginning, and because I didn’t have my book at that was hard for me to look it up. This was a good experience and that I could rely on my peers.

Lab report analysis for me was the hardest to accomplish because this relies on sources and being able to analyze those sources. Even though Ms. Rodwell gave us a structure on the syllabus of how to address this assignment, for me was a little hard to understand it. I struggled the most during this assignment, I went through multiple databases in the CCNY library resources looking for papers that were not only a topic I liked but that I could compare one the other. I did look and talked about this assignment with some classmates which helps me to have a better understanding of how I could approach it, but even though I had an idea I did not know how to write it down on my paper, in the end, I just ended writing a small analysis of my sources and did not show their similarities or anything else. This was my worse paper so far, I know myself that I did poorly during this assignment and because of this, I set a goal for myself to do better on the next assignment to compensate this one.

Technical description I did try to do better in this assignment but no this assignment gave me so many troubles the first one was structure, second language and tone, and last sources. the structure as always I was not clear on how I could write my paper, this was a challenge but thanks that we had some discussion post about this on the blackboard it help me to have an idea on how I could start. Language and tone I did forget about the audience, I did not write this paper in a proper tone and went with an informal and vague writing style. Last the sources, finding the sources for this assignment was a nightmare I did look it up in the databases and library resources but there were not many things I could use for my writing, so I took the easy way and grabbed the first things I thought it could be decent. I did not put all my effort into writing this assignment which I regret, and the grade I got for this assignment was completely fair.
